About youth floorball

The GBFF is actively working to develop floorball in schools and youth groups. Floorball is an ideal sport for boys and girls of all ages to play as it is designed from the outset to be safe, it can be played in a relatively small indoor area all year round, encourages fair play and team work, and is relatively cheap to take up.

Although youth floorball in Great Britain is still in its infancy, there is already an active primary school league in the Gloucestershire area, incorporating some 24 teams from 18 schools. The GBFF would like to continue and accelerate this development and help establish regional and national youth leagues.

Equipment for loan

In order to help youth organisations try floorball themselves, the GBFF has secured several starter packs through sponsorship from Canadien/Exel, the major floorball equipment suppliers in the UK. These packs include sticks, balls and goals and are available for loan to schools and youth groups for a period of three months, with only a small refundable deposit (£25) to pay to insure against damage. The packs are available to any under 18 youth group including (but not limited to) primary schools, secondary schools, cubs, scouts and youth clubs.

Demonstrations

The GBFF has established a network of adult volunteers who are able to visit your group to demonstrate floorball to both children and staff. The demonstrations are designed to include participation of the children so they can try the sport for themselves and we have already held highly successful demonstrations in primary schools, secondary schools and youth clubs, often visiting a group for a whole day to allow every child an opportunity to play.

Further support

In addition to equipment loans and demonstrations, the GBFF is also able to offer other services including coaching (depending on availability of volunteers), training guides, full and simplified rule books, videos of international games and advice on purchasing equipment.
